FAQ |
To enable you (and us) to keep track of stuff we have loaned out and might forget about. How does it worK? You create a free account and set up a loaned item with a date of return, reminder frequency and some other details plus your friend's email address. Your friend gets an email so they can agree to the terms. You will both be reminded by email that your item should be returned. Sorry, we don't provide "enforcers". How often will we be reminded? The lender chooses: every 3 days, weekly, monthly or not until the item is due. Or not at all if you prefer...we aren't fussy, after all, it's your stuff. What happens when my stuff is returned? You can log in and complete or cancel the loan at any time or on the due date you will receive an email with a link to complete the loan or extend it. If you complete the loan you add it to your loan history. If you cancel a loan the details are completely deleted...but it doesn't hurt. If you don't do anything at all, our email robot will continue to send reminders according to your schedule for another 30 days. After that...with a wave of robot's magic tool, the loan will be automatically completed. It's all pretty clever when you think about it. Does it cost anything? Well, it doesn't cost you anything, but it does cost us something to build, maintain, host and run this site. So if you get something precious back that you might have forgotten and really, really appreciate it, a token paypal donation would be appreciated. You'll get the opportunity in your "loan completed" email. Enough donations and we can buy more stuff to lend out. At least we won't lose it any more. You're collecting a lot of email addresses, what are you going to do with them all? We are shocked that you even ask. We don't do anything with emails apart from sending reminders as described above. The people behind Loan Reminder have been privacy and anti-spam activists for many years. Your secrets are safe with us...promise! What's with the date format? Without going into a rant on how much easier it is to sort date-sensitive documents if their name starts with the date in YYMMDD format: The web is an international place with a few date format varieties, we decided this was the most globally understandable. Besides, it saves a lot of database to web page reformatting for which our lazy programmers are thankful.
